The Belfort Lab is dedicated to ensuring that all infants are well-nourished, because that is a foundation for lifelong health and well-being.

Our aim is to improve the outcomes of preterm and other vulnerable infant populations by conducting collaborative clinical, epidemiologic, and implementation research on the best approaches to nutritional care and assessment.

We center our work around human milk as the optimal source of nutrition for virtually all newborns, while also recognizing that access to human milk may be limited for some.
